URUPAGUA Project is an initiative led by young agents of change, working to encourage young entrepreneurship in sustainable, traditional farming communities from the mountainous northwest of Venezuela; specifically through ecotourism, generating added value and improving youths income in the local community.

We are helping building a network of agroecological trails and guided tours by local community expert guides, merging the visitor's experience with the nature of local agroecological traditions, local knowledge, neotropical bird watching and the harvest of the fruits of the land, all organically produced.

To achieve this goal, Urupagua Project is currently working on:

i. Training young farmers to master comprehensive skills in culture of service, leadership and entrepreneurship, as well as for specific competencies such as the training of interpretive trail guides.

ii. Providing technical advice and tools for regenerative agriculture, sustainable practices and parabiological skills.

iii. Demarcating, signaling and establishing interpretive trails in partnership with the young local farmers, who will work as guides for visitors.

By immersing the visitors in the local sustainable 'Conuco' culture, the idea is that the community welcomes the visitor, making them feel part of the community, turning them not into just another 'tourist', but into a cultural and environmental ambassador, sensitized and genuinely interested in returning and/or inviting more people to live this experience as global citizens with local sensitivity.
